Not his fault

I think I learned from my father What to be and what not to be I knew what it was And it wasn’t his fault He never had anyone to show what feelings really were All he ever knew was shadows. Shadows of pain hidden in his gut. Even the joy buried in him, he never knew how to let out. I learned what it was The anger festering that he never knew how to release The fears hidden that never let him at ease I knew he loved me but never knew how to express such love He called it tough love, It felt more like love with condition I learned from him what to be and what not to be I learned how to write images of emotion Realizing nowadays it’s not the guys faults it’s the absence of vulnerability that raised them. I learned to release the shadows that could’ve been hidden, instead I praise them
